WOMAN! I CELEBRATE YOU

WOMAN! I CELEBRATE YOU

Summary:

For women that work tirelessly to protect, encourage and empower other women, I celebrate you today

Hello special one on a special day like this, this is my love letter to every woman who makes other women feel loved, appreciated, protected and empowered. You are golden, words are not enough to express my gratitude towards you.

To the woman who doesn’t belittle others like her but compliments them and lifts them up when they stumble and fall, you dear I celebrate.

To you woman who goes the extra mile to make another woman comfortable in her own skin. Who does not encourage bleaching but celebrates her melanin. Making sure that you tell her that she is beautiful the way she is. The woman who doesn’t discriminate another because of her skin color or her physical appearance. I celebrate you today.

Happy international women’s day to the woman who supports and fights for other women’s rights. It doesn’t matter how uncomfortable you are, but nothing stops you from fighting for the rape victims, those that are domestically violated and the helpless women around your community. I salute you. Comfort zones are good to be in as a woman but those that step out of their comforts to make sure that another woman is helped, you are the heroes of the twenty-first century.

To you woman who strives so hard to see that you live an exemplary life and be a role model to the young women and the girls around you, I celebrate you today. You have sacrificed a lot lady and I am proud of you. The things that you would have done selfishly to please yourself, you let go so that another woman can be protected, that makes you admirable and one to look up to. We acknowledge your sacrifice and selflessness you show.

She wakes up in the wee hours of the morning, 4:00 am to be exact, she showers, prepares water for her children to bathe, while she is preparing water she makes sure that their breakfast is prepared and the drinks and snacks for school are parked in the bag in well-wrapped containers.

She wakes up her girls and bathes them, helps them to dress up in their uniforms that she already washed and well ironed. As the children are having breakfast she is dressing up and making sure that the home is left tidy and in order.

She makes sure that they are all presentable, puts them in the car and drives them to school, gives them to teachers and off she goes to work. She is the supervisor in the office and she makes sure that her work doesn’t in any way make other women feel less important but she does her work so excellently that other young ladies learn from her. She works with integrity and in the evening she keeps her children from school, makes them dinner, bathes them and tucks them in. By the time she sleeps, her house and the requirements fo the next day are all arranged and put in order for use tomorrow morning. The routine continues and despite her busy schedule, she has time to counsel her children, watch the news and help other women in need. she is the woman I am celebrating today.

All the women who do good, whether you are noticed by others,  written about in the media or not noticed at all, I celebrate you. The little good you do in your community is the one that will make the women better and a force to reckon with. We value and appreciate you.

To those that have been silent about the suffering of other women, it is time to speak up, don’t wait to be seen to start helping and empowering the girls and women but do the little you can in private and you will be blessed publically. Be intentional about helping another woman today, instead of backbiting her, talk to her and counsel her. Provide her with the necessary help if you can and if you cant, contact those who can, you would have played a big part in protecting her. let’s be our sister’s keeper and God will bless and protect you too. Don’t look for massive things to do start small especially with the needy women around you.

I can’t forget to encourage all the women to go and take the breast cancer screening if you have not done so, this has become the silent killer of so many women in the world and I don’t want you to fall victim. Go and get checked today, You are Important and your life matters. when you are healthy there’s so much you can accomplish and cause the change you want to see.

Happy International women’s day

Rossette Kyakyo

My name is Rossette Kyakyo, a founder of a youth and women led NGO and Team Leader for Slum youth Rehabilitation and Development Organization (SYRADO). I have a postgraduate diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation from Uganda Management Institute, a degree in social sciences from Makerere university majoring in social worker and social administration, a diploma in social media marketing from SHAW Academy a diploma in Guidance and Counselling from YMCA, certificate in Home and community HIV/AIDS care and a certificate in Digital marketing which all have provided me with skills to become a champion and activist for adolescent girls and young women who are marginalized in the slums of Kampala Uganda. I have experience in youth advocacy and social enterprise where I continued to learn a lot and research on how to effectively empower the youth, women and teenage girls who are marginalized like the poor, sex workers, those living with HIV, refugees and drug addicts living in the slums in Uganda. I have so far trained over 400 young people with entrepreneurship skills 100 of whom are now business owners. Recycling Trash into treasure has created businesses for the HIV+ teenage girls living in Slums through Briquette making, decorative bottle making, straw doormat making, paper beads making among others which deals directly with environment protection and climate change mitigation.
