She has written and published two novels which are all on the market and you can grab yourself a copy of either of the books or the two of them because I have read both and they are worth it. Here are the titles of the two books and their summaries.

  1. REMEMBER ME by Sylvia Nalubega

Her first book is about Tamar and Perez who are haunted by the choices of their past. Their lives take a dramatic turn when they meet Yeshua who many know as a prophet and a man of God. Seeing the total change in their lives, could Yeshua be a mere man or could he be the promised savior? This bible fiction novel is based on the story of the bleeding woman in Luke 8:42-48 and the thief at the cross in Luke 23:32-43. Much as the novel is fictitious, it is based on real-life events that happened in the day of Jesus Christ. The themes in the novel are relationships, healing, salvation, and dance. The novel is a narration with dialogues. Key highlights in the novel are humility, healing, forgiveness, and restoration rooted in the love of Christ. The book highlights issues of spirituality, emotional, and physical health.

Sylvia’s first novel was inspired by the desire to dramatize the bible passages for people to appreciate its relevance in our lives as well as be entertained. She remembers typing this story way into the wee hours of the night. Her friends that she shared the room with woke up teasing her that they were only hearing the keyboard “speaking”. We thank God for her never giving up spirit because it ended in a beautiful book.

2. CENTRE ONE by Sylvia Nalubega

This novel brings you a rich blend of narratives depicting Sexual Reproductive Health and Gender-Based Violence in our communities. Sewava a Village Health Team member in Katuugo Parish, Kyankwanzi district takes us to his village as he indulges us with humorous stories that bring out how social factors play a key role in our health.  From a mother who forces her daughter to abort, a husband and wife who secretly take their Anti-Retroviral Treatment without informing each other, a woman who abuses her spouse, a schoolgirl who almost losses her life because of being teased and among others, Sewava engages his audience in storytelling yet passing on such important information that can be used to improve our relationships, health habits and systems.

Here is snippet of one of the stories

The mother and her daughter.

I was awakened by the noises in the wee hours. I had had a late night so any disturbance at this time left a sour taste in my mouth. Yet I knew that I was always on call. My house was accessed by almost everyone in my parish. Before long, there were loud knocks on my door and frantic cries. “Musawo Sewava, help! My daughter is bleeding to death!” A woman’s voice cried out. Musawo is a local title given to doctor or health worker. I quickly got out of my bed and threw on the quickest clothes I could get. This was not a new occurrence. In fact, it was part of my life to respond to health emergencies any time of day or night. Having got my torch, I opened the door to welcome the early morning visitors. I saw the young girl who I estimated to be fourteen years of age. Her face was ashen. She was resting her head on the bosom of the older woman who was her mother. The mother was pleading with me to save her daughter’s life. When I asked the matter was, the mother informed me that she had taken her daughter to……

My name is Rossette Kyakyo, a founder of a youth and women led NGO and Team Leader for Slum youth Rehabilitation and Development Organization (SYRADO). I have a postgraduate diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation from Uganda Management Institute, a degree in social sciences from Makerere university majoring in social worker and social administration, a diploma in social media marketing from SHAW Academy a diploma in Guidance and Counselling from YMCA, certificate in Home and community HIV/AIDS care and a certificate in Digital marketing which all have provided me with skills to become a champion and activist for adolescent girls and young women who are marginalized in the slums of Kampala Uganda. I have experience in youth advocacy and social enterprise where I continued to learn a lot and research on how to effectively empower the youth, women and teenage girls who are marginalized like the poor, sex workers, those living with HIV, refugees and drug addicts living in the slums in Uganda. I have so far trained over 400 young people with entrepreneurship skills 100 of whom are now business owners. Recycling Trash into treasure has created businesses for the HIV+ teenage girls living in Slums through Briquette making, decorative bottle making, straw doormat making, paper beads making among others which deals directly with environment protection and climate change mitigation.
