Stay Filled with the Spirit

Stay Filled with the Spirit

It’s not enough to be baptized in the Holy Spirit one time. You have to stay filled with the Spirit. As Christians, it seems, we spring leaks. When we read the Book of Acts, we see clearly that the apostles weren’t just filled with the Spirit once and for all on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:4). We also read two more accounts of the disciples being filled with the Spirit in Acts 4:31 and Acts 13:52. If the apostles who were witnesses of Christ’s ministry on earth, death, and resurrection had to be filled with the Spirit over and over again, how much more so do we?

Once is not enough, imagine you eat food today and you are filled, this food will be used up by the body and the rest that is not used will come out and tomorrow, you will be so hungry like you have never eaten before. Your yesterday filled stomach will now be empty and you will need to refill it again, this is the same with the Holy Spirit. You need to be filled over and over again and stay filled. whenever you fill dry, ask God to refill you again with His Spirit.

I constantly ask the Lord, “Fill me with Your Spirit.” I know I need a fresh infilling. I know a little dab won’t do me. I need a “huge draughts of Him.” Because when you eat little portions of food, you also get hungry quickly and now and then you need to eat. When I ask to be filled, I don’t want snacks but a buffet.

So, you must be very careful how you live. Live like people who are wise. Do not live like fools. Many bad things are happening these days. So, whenever you have a chance to do something good, do as much as you can. Do not live like you are blind and you are led by the wind. But instead, understand what the Lord wants you to do. Do not drink too much wine so that you become drunk. That will destroy your life. Instead, let God’s Spirit fill you. He will help you to speak to each other with all kinds of spiritual songs. Sing psalms from the Bible, and Christian songs. Praise the Lord with songs from inside yourselves.

Ephesians 5:15‭-‬19  (Easy version) When the enemy works to bring death and destruction in our lives, we have to remind ourselves that the Spirit who raised Christ from the dead dwells on the inside of us. Then we need to ask Him to fill us again with that life-giving river. When the enemy comes to frustrate God’s purposes in our lives, we need to remember the Spirit of grace is resident in us and ask Him for more, more, and more.
