MY CHRISTMAS GIFT

MY CHRISTMAS GIFT

Some highlights from on of our giving in MAY

THE GENESIS

In December 2018 I felt heavily convicted to give a standard Christmas meal to a few vulnerable families whom were child headed and those those that were headed by the single mothers. The revelation was that despite the situation these vulnerable families were going through, Jesus loved them and He wanted to extend His love to them through my giving. As God fearing Christian I obeyed that voice. I did not have much back then but I gathered the little I had and made sure that each gift packed had what you would call a typical Christmas meal (Sugar, rice, posh, soda, beans, meat, salt and cooking oil). I got my friends together and we took the gifts to the pre-chosen vulnerable families by categories mention above. When we reached there, it was overwhelming by what I saw and I was glad that the Lord had instructed me and I obeyed.

HOW IT BECAME ANNUAL

After talking to these families and handing over the gifts to them, I remained behind because one of the ladies wanted to talk to me about some pressing challenge that she could not talk about in public and as I was listening to her narrate her sad story, I couldn’t help it but overhear what another woman behind me who was talking to her neighbour about the gifts that we had just given her.

THE TURNING POINT

This is what she said but she said it Luganda and I will translate it in English; “Esaala zange mukama yazizemu” literally translated as my prayers have been answered by God. She continued saying; “I was tired of seeing my children smelling good Christmas food from the neighbour but have nothing at home to feed them not even a soda and this year I asked God to change my narrative and he has.” Hearing what she said my eyes got teary and I thanked God for the gift he had given me and those friends of mine that I went with. That out of the many He choose me and those that would obey to take His Love to the needy in the community. It was no longer a command from God that I needed to obey but a Christmas gift that God gave me and those that partner with SYRADO to carry this out every year.

MY CHRISTMAS GIFT FROM GOD

Since 2018, I have never looked back and every year with the guidance of my mentors and prayerfully I get a place to go to and the needy families to take this love of Christ to. I don’t go alone, I get friends and partners to go with and run social media campaign for people to contribute. I thank those that hear the call and join in.

THIS YEAR 2022

This year we are going to Makerere Kivulu and the target is to give a Christmas meal to 100 needy families and above. I am super grateful for Flourishing Women Uganda who have Partnered with us to make this a reality. You too, who is reading this have a chance to donate and partner with us until 23rd / 12/2022. For the friends that have already given, thank you and those that are yet to give, we are patiently waiting. God bless you.
