LET’S FEED THE STARVING SLUM SINGLE MOTHERS TOGETHER

COVID-19 has caused so much problems for everyone but for the slum single mothers who earned from the streets on a daily have found life impossible for them and their children. This is because they are chased from the streets of Kampala to protect them from acquiring COVID-19. The intent is good but the methods used are not human, the are harrassed, their goods are confiscated and sometimes beaten which leaves them with nothing to feed their children.

Why Fundraise for the Single Mothers in the Slums

Before COVID-19 struck, me and SYRADO Uganda were training these women with hands-on skills that will bring in money and help them earn a living while taking their children to school. unfortunately, Coronavirus halted this project before they would complete their skills training which left many of them vulnerable to starvation. I am not an advocate for short term sustainability but this is so neccessary at the moment until they can get on their feed. We want them allive until COVID-19 ends so that we can resume the skills training project where they can feed and sustain themselves.

Government Food

We would like to thank the government of Uganda for supplying food to the needy during the first phase of the lockdown. The government of Uganda supplied food to the people 2 months back which is now finished since it was 5kgs of both posh and beans. The government says that they might do a send round of food giving but they need more donations to do that, which might take a while to happen and as you well know that people in the first phase donated enough but the officials embezzled the funds which demoralized companies and individuals from giving more. corruption in government is creating more class stratification than lifting the poor and vulnerable people in society. the rich are becoming richer and the poor poorer that even the little the poor has is taken by the rich. There is a need for change in the way things are done by the people in power.

Why I need your help

I don’t have much but I have the heart to help others, I don’t like to see people suffer and injustice angers me. I know the world has many people like me who would willingly sacrifice the little they have to feed the hungry and save a life.

We always lookout for the needy in the slum communities and help them in any way we can but this time the situation is worse and bigger than us. This is the reason why we are running this fundraising campaign to give you a chance to help single mothers in the slum who are starving to death due to lack of food since they cannot work. Before the covid19 situation happened, these single mothers and teenagers were being helped by SYRADO Uganda by equipping them with skills to earn a living but unfortunately, most of them had not yet grasped the skills to survive this pandemic. Most are casual laborers who sell fruits on the streets of Kampala but they cannot work since the government doesn’t want them on the streets. Most have more than 4 children to look after and they are the breadwinners.

This comes as an appeal to you to support these single mothers and their children who live in the slums of Kampala. We have been working with these young women for two years now and the work is still much before they can stand on their own. Trust us with your money today and we will deliver and accountability will be given in pictorial formats and receipts will be displayed on the SYRADO Uganda page.
