COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

Isaiah 43: 1 and 2 says, but now, this is what the LORD says– he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

I know many of us will never forget 2020 or Twenie Twenie as it was baptized when it was just beginning. A year of expentance but Corona virus came and the new words like lockdown became the norm, adaptation instead of breakthrough took over and now we are living and adjusting to the new normal. I know you have so much more to add to the list of what went wrong and all but I want to challenge you to look for the positives and what went right in your life and family.

I will start by giving thanks to God for Isaiah 43 and Psalms 91. Indeed the Lord has kept me and my family safe and disease free. He has preserved us and Corona virus did not consume us. Glory be to His name Yahweh; the covenant keeping God. Thsnk you for the gift of life.

I have so much to be thankful for as we close the year. Despite the fact that my new year’s resolution didn’t go as planned, I got new ones and I accomplished them. I blogged much about self discovery and purpose this year and those blogs taught me so much. I learned to accept me the way I am and to value the time I have been given here on earth. I take nothing for granted.

Talking of purpose, did you by any chance discover yours? If you didn’t, find ot before crossing to 2021 so that you can be productive. If you found it, what are you doing to give it life? Are you cultivating? Watering it? Or your are harvesting? What stage are you? Have the why, how, when and what been answered? You are not a live by accident and neither are you on earth to just pass through, you need to exist and leave a mark. Life is a journey and you need to leave footsteps behind.

This year I was able to fully register my non-profit organization which is helping me live my purpose. I am nolonger only concerned about my wellbeing but also the wellbeing of strangers who live in the slums and boy, I am determined to help these poor youths, refugees, rape victims, prostitutes, single mothers and HIV infected people to change their stories and come out of their predicament. When their story changes I will feel satisfied because my purpose is completed. When I say it like that you might think it is easy but it is not. There is a lot at play and so many obstacles and ot is not achieved in one night. It is a process. Learn to trust the process and respect God’s time.

On the adventurous side, my Sipi falls trip was refreshing and rejuvenating. If you know me, you know I love adventure and busking in the Kapochwora sun and hills made me forget all the Corona virus worries.

I remember blogging about choosing your friends carefully, well made profitable new friends whom I will learn from and who will in turn learn from me. You can bot choose your family members where you are born but you have advantage when it comes to friends, your network is your net worth. My friends help me achieve purpose. They celebrate my achievements and be there for me in hard times and I do the same for them . How are your friends? Are they pushing you to be better or you can explain?

See you in 2021. I wish you a blessed new you so that next time like this the comment section will be full with counted blessings. I love you .

As we enter 2021, my prayer is that you will have alot to thank God for this year and them lay your new’s resolution before Him at midnight hour and trust Him to accomplish them. His time is always perfect. Corona virus is still with us and we enter 2021 with it, but that doesn’t mean that you stop dreaming. Keep dreaming, keep hoping and keep planning for the life you want to live. Stop being comfortable with where you are at, so many people are looking up to you. Be a role model in all you do and set good example for others to follow. Remember to observe the SOPs and to wear your mask when in public.

Remember to comment your blessings. What are you thankful for this year and your new year’s resolutions. How do you plan to a achieve them is also important. Stay blessed.

My name is Rossette Kyakyo, a founder of a youth and women led NGO and Team Leader for Slum youth Rehabilitation and Development Organization (SYRADO). I have a postgraduate diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation from Uganda Management Institute, a degree in social sciences from Makerere university majoring in social worker and social administration, a diploma in social media marketing from SHAW Academy a diploma in Guidance and Counselling from YMCA, certificate in Home and community HIV/AIDS care and a certificate in Digital marketing which all have provided me with skills to become a champion and activist for adolescent girls and young women who are marginalized in the slums of Kampala Uganda. I have experience in youth advocacy and social enterprise where I continued to learn a lot and research on how to effectively empower the youth, women and teenage girls who are marginalized like the poor, sex workers, those living with HIV, refugees and drug addicts living in the slums in Uganda. I have so far trained over 400 young people with entrepreneurship skills 100 of whom are now business owners. Recycling Trash into treasure has created businesses for the HIV+ teenage girls living in Slums through Briquette making, decorative bottle making, straw doormat making, paper beads making among others which deals directly with environment protection and climate change mitigation.
